My First CF Card

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Early 2001 I bought my first digicam, a Canon G1, this huge 16mb beauty came with her... those were the days :lol:

Anyways, just an excuse really to play with my new lens :cool:

P.S. Both are full frame shots just resized.

Hidey-ho Neighbour!

Nice retro flashback. I was in high-school in 2001 and remember using a Sony digital camera with a slot in the side for a floppy disk. I would have killed for 16mb. Them was the days! (but not really). :D

The Mavica was it? Can't quite remember the name of them. Shot at 640*480 if i recall correctly!

Love it! I don't think I had even seen a digital back in 2001. I was happily snapping away in my Minolta APS camera and spending a fortune on processing...

Nice close-ups! electronics always fascinates me

WOW! 16MB card, I got into digital late, so we were already talkin 256/512 MB as being bottom of the line.
16MB would be 2(maybe 3 if your lucky) RAW images with my camera :)

I can't even fit one image from the D300 onto the Nikon branded 8MB card that came with my CP 950 in 1999.

Our digicams prior to that just had embedded memory. The Kodak Digital Science DC20 has an optical viewfinder and no LCD or flash.

And it still has power! :)

And we held a film day just a month or so back, for those who were either missing the smell of hypo, or for those who just wanted to play.

Sounds like a great idea, nothing wrong with film.. but these days I sure enjoy the convenience of digital.

Hahahaha.... Film... I'm sure so many of you are going to find what I'm about to say utterly hilarious.

I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE PUT FILM INTO A CAMERA, AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO.

I'm really that new to photography. I've been taking photos with a DSLR for less than 2 years (+12 months on a point and shoot digital, and the occasional snap with an early digital as mentioned above). For years, there was no appeal at all. I didn't understand it, nor did I take the time to. :shock:
