Dramatic PhotosThought I'd post this link:
http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=128623 It is a link to a thread on a military forum, with some of the most dramatic and heart wrenching images you will ever see. It's about 48 pages long the thread, but some of the images take your breath away. From a photography point of view, it is well worth your time to look. 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

Re: Dramatic PhotosA photo exists in the Russian archives that is breathtaking in its beauty and devastating in its morbidity.
It shows five cossack horsemen on their horses all frozen solid. The arm of one horseman is raised with his sword on high. The manes of the horses are streamed out as if in a high wind. Obviously this happened in the Russian winter where temperatures can reach -40°C or lower. It is thought that a weather situation happened whereby the temperature went from 0°C to -40°C in seconds. Now, if the photo is ever released for public consumption, it would be the most horrific view of war ever taken IMO. Chris

Re: Dramatic PhotosThis photo is one of the most touching and powerful images I've seen. The soldier carrying the child is Major Mark Bieger, a father of three. The child was critically wounded in a car bomb attack in her street that killed 7 others. Despite getting her treated, she died of her wounds. Apologies for the image size. Image copyrighted to Michael Yon. 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

Re: Dramatic PhotosOut of the 48 pages that is one of the only photos that bought a tear to my eye. The other was the wife who wanted to sleep next to her husband one last time (they made a bed for her next to his casket).
Great find Alan, some fantastic images in there and the stories behind them!
Re: Dramatic Photos
Yep, that one and the one of the lady laying on her husbands grave, I found both of them very touching images. Such emotion in those images, hard to describe. 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

I visited this place http://www.warphotoltd.com/ when I was on holidays last year. The exhibitions were very well done and the photography was amazing.
