Launch-Night AdviceHey.
A friend has had a tog cancel on her last minute, and asked if was up to the task. It's a job tonight, covering a new company launch. I'll need pics of arrivals, speeches, table shots, etc.. Any advice from y'all?? Can it be done with no flash or perhaps built-in flash? What says you? Nikon D70

Re: Launch-Night AdviceWhen and where is it? How many executives/guests are they expecting?
I'm assuming it is a very much corporate environment and place will be pretty dim in light. Especially for the speeches, ask for flash permission if you plan to use any. Some companies don't really like flashes during speech. It's best to have a falsh equiped. Borrow one if you can. I'll see if I can lend u some gears if you could tell me when you need it. I don't really recommend built-in flash, it will look like point and shoot effect. If you plan to survive without flash, you need to work around ISO800-1600 or even higher, which it can be a nightmare.
Re: Launch-Night AdviceTonight/Leichart/No Idea, & a paid job.
I told her I'd do it, but to let her boss know that I can't guarantee anything... I've used very little flash in my life. I'm pretty sure my 70-200 2.8 can handle the speeches in low light and for candid shots. Think the pics will be for web use, etc, so noise shouldn't be much bother I'll guess? Nikon D70

Re: Launch-Night AdviceIf they want someone with experience and a bit more 'Pro', is anyone here up for the task?

Re: Launch-Night AdviceSorry for the late reply.
You can do well with some support and the 70-200 for the speeches. If you might have to stay with the built-in flash, just make sure you are within a distance that the flash can cover, the power is very limited on it. In the end, good luck! Let us know how did you go.
Re: Launch-Night AdviceI got bumped, but that's OK. They were paying good money so they deserve a pro to do the job.
