At FreshieSpent part of Sunday afternoon at Freshwater Beach (and didn't see Geoff lurking anywhere ) with camera in hand. We probably should have gone about half an hour later for better light, but with an 11month dictating terms, we didn't have the option).
My PP was minimal but was at the lower contrast end of the spectrum (particularly given the light). These first 2 were on the rocks with the waves crashing (sufficiently far) behind them. I was trying to time the shots to coincide with a nice big wave. One B&W, one in colour. Two more just behind the pools, looking back west. I found it difficult trying to balance ambient (background) light with sufficient flash, notwithstanding being about 4 meters away from the subjects. Hence, fill flash had about +2FC, at about f2-3.5 with shutter speeds up to 1/3000ths or so. I forgot that I could bump up the ISO to, say, 200 or 400 to allow greater DOF. I appreciate your feedback and criticism. Regards, Patrick
Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935. Our mug is smug

Re: At FreshieThanks Glen. I think I would have preferred a slightly larger DOF, but was happy with the results. Gotta love the high speed synch of the SB800!

Re: At FreshieNice work Patrick,
I agree with Glen though, the last image is the best of the lot here, followed closely by the 3rd image (nice to see MrsR smiling). I find (as you mentioned yourself) the glare/haze in the 2nd image behind MrsR and Alex a bit distracting. Such a great spot for a photo shoot! Geoff

Re: At FreshiePatrick. I am also a fan of #4, but i think #3 is damn fine as well - although I think it's a little too bright and saturated - I'd be inclined to back off on both slightly

Re: At FreshieThanks for the feedback, guys. I appreciate it. Peter, I did bump up the exposure in ACR but didn't really touch the saturation a great deal, if it all.
