Youth Day Preparations

Postby dviv on Thu May 15, 2008 2:37 pm

Youth Day Preparations are underway at King Street Wharf.

I've oversharpened to try and show the fences that have been put up (sorry about the haze - Sydney is terrible today)

Apparently the Pope will be making an address from a boat to the crowds assemled on the shore.... Now where have I heard that before???

will he be greeted at the shoreline by immigration officers asking him if he has appropriate documentation? Would be funny if the barge or Pope Float was named Tampa ;)

The boat won't actually be berthing directly at the shoreline. It'll stay a few meters out from shore, and the Pope will walk the remainder of the way. :)

With all the water restrictions these day, it a wonder they are allowed to bring out the Pope ... :)

Isn't that the recently retired shipping terminal at the entrance to Darling Harbour? I'm so glad they found a good use for it... Sydney's own St. Peters Square...

I'm sure Papa Ratzi will be impressed.

Cheers
Steffen.

Sure is  Once they are done with youth day it becomes commercial and residential - because Wynyard station isn't busy enough already

To be honest I don’t believe the area allocated for the Pope will be large enough. If you consider the number of troops, police, SAS, ASIO, government dung beetles and men dressed in black with curly earpieces there should be enough room left for one very sallow youth

With that much security the boys from the Chaser wont be far away. Wonder what the plan is.
