Sigma 300mm 2.8Well I finally got a chance to do some quick shots using the above lens. This beast is not what I would call a medium size lens but one that I would use on a mono pod, which I have done with the shots below. This lens is a little front heavy but easy to control with very little practice. I did find that a camera body with the power grip makes for a better balanced combination even when using a mono pod.
These are some quick shots done in one of my favorite locations, Tyrrells Wines in The Hunter Valley....... the images were shot using a D300 in RAW converted to JPG and posted with no sharpening....... I want to see what this lens can give me with different light....... 200 iso 320th @ f2.8 200 iso 160th @ f5 200 iso 320th @ f2.8 200 iso 400th @ f2.8 Cheers ....bp....

Re: Sigma 300mm 2.8Looks like it will offer great subject separation. Bernie 'please explain' were you not entirely happy with the 120-300 f/2.8?

Re: Sigma 300mm 2.8
I have only just picked this lens up and have only had time to do the above test images. The 120-300 2.8 is a fine lens, but not very suitable to my way of shooting so I am testing the prime 2.8 for a comparison of the 2 lens......... will keep you posted when I have had time to do a complete test Cheers ....bp....
