Thanks to Bruce and Ants and everybody else who helped me out about the light stands. Received the package today. Contents were the Manfrotto background kit (which I'm just going to use the stands for the time being as speedlight stands), a light boom, super clamps and 2 westcott 42" umbrellas. One of the umbrellas hasn't arrived as yet as it was on backorder but I have enough stuff now to no longer have any excuses for saying I have lack of equipment therefore I can't take a good shot yadda yadda yadda. That's a 580EX hooked up to the umbrella and a Quantum X2 at the end of the boom.

Nice toys! I would love to have an umbrella set up like this but it would appear that I get very few opportunities to actually use it. The people I know run away promptly when I approach even without the flash on camera! Looking forward to the soft light you are going to enjoy from this rig..

I bet that baby chair tray table never looked so good! you may have made the same mistake I made the first time I used an umbrella bracket. look at your photo, and you will see the flash is hitting the top half of the umbrella. this most likely will be because you have inserted the brolly from the wrong side. look very carefully, you will see that the hole for the brolly is not drilled perpendicular, so that the flash head should point to the centre of the brolly. does that make sense? im confused PS: adorama still have my order as "pending"

Hahah thanks for that Bruce I thought I had put it in the right way...evidently not. I did notice that it wasn't drilled perpendicular. I nearly ordered with Adorama but went with b&h instead as I was too lazy to re-order.

Yes, Adorama is playing up lately, pending for 2 weeks now.
And it's a nice setup, I definitely have 2000% more light stands than I have tripods.
Need boom arms now though.
