MLU on 400D

Postby robert on Wed May 07, 2008 2:02 pm

Anyone know of a hack or way to get the mirror lock up to happen during self timer, or even I think you can reset the superfluous direct print button to MLU.

having to hit the button twice is annoying cos it means setting it and then taking it off when handhold etc..

Are there any worthwhile firmware upgrades or should I just accept that this camera is ENTRY LEVEL
and live with its lack of more professional features

No replies so either noone has a 400D or doesnt really care!

Anyway after a lot of googling discovered that the custom function MLU doesnt have the stupid two stage shutter release when used on self timer. That is using a cheap IR remote and 2 second delay solves my problems. Just one press and the mirror flips then 2 seconds later takes the shot!

Hopefully this helps someone.

actually i was messing with this on teh weekend, and i found that if you set mirror lock up no, then go into your custom timer. it does the MLu then 2 second delay thign anyway, which is a bit silly, cause i kinda wanted to get into my long exposure photos

so there is no need for an IR remote. but if you've got an IR remote, then why even bother using the timer release?
