E-Bay changeswhile the charges for ebay keep increasing and now the REQUIREMENT to have paypal listed as an option...which means we get nailed for more charges. today i was leaving feedback on a buyer from my 50/1.8 and just before i gave feedback i got this message pop up...
Important changes to Feedback Buyers, You can no longer receive negative or neutral Feedback from sellers. You should leave honest and accurate Feedback without the fear of receiving negative or neutral ratings. ok...so wtf is up with that ? what does that mean they cant get negative or neutral feedback ? what if they were a crap buyer ? does that mean i just dont leave any feedback ? Re: E-Bay changesLooks like ebay is going down the gurgler with the service.

Come follow the rabbit hole...
Re: E-Bay changesNo, from reading it seems the BUYERS can not get negative fb from a seller they bought off..
so basically you can leave feedback for a crap seller without fear of them leaving you negative feedback (it would seem) New page

Re: E-Bay changes
Absolutely correct, and about time too. Chris

Re: E-Bay changesDoesn't that mean that I can bid $5000 for a paper clip and then don't go through with the transaction without worrying about getting negative feedback?
There's a few sellers that I would like to do that to. __________

Re: E-Bay changeshmmm...understand your points but what if i'm a crap buyer ? do i not get any negative feedback ?

Re: E-Bay changesHaving Paypal as a compulsory option isn't a done deal just yet, as much as eBay are trying to steamroller it through. The Reserve Bank and ACCC may yet have a ruling on it that they won't like.
I understand the Feedback changes, I'm just suspicious that this has been done at the same time as the Paypal fiasco. Kevin
Re: E-Bay changesI think that feedback on sellers is much more important than feedback on buyers - so it seems like a good change to me overall. If a buyer doesn't pay...well you can usually re-list without too much of a problem.

Re: E-Bay changesyes, it is a done deal for the moment anyway.
i could not list my item without a paypal option. EM1 l 7.5 l 12-40 l 14 l 17 l 25 l 45 l 60 l 75 l AW1 l V3
Re: E-Bay changesI am firmly in the "PayPal Sucks" camp. Now that eBay is forcing us down the PayPal or bust path, my choice is simple. I no longer use eBay. I miss some things, but hey did I really need them anyway?

It's easy to be good... when there is nothing else to do
Re: E-Bay changesWith Ebay my philosophy was simple. If I was a seller I would provide f/back as soon as the buyers money hit my account. As far as I was concerned the buyer has fulfilled their obligation. As a buyer I'd expect the same., and in the end did not give f/back to the seller unless they gave me f/back 1st.
As for Paypal, they can jam it. Problem is they have such a dominant position in the market that its going to take time for a competitor to rise up. Yes I know Tradingpost.com.au are doing auctions now but their site is nothing short of dreadful and very very slow. Did I say slow....Oztion doesnt look bad but at the moment doesn't have the numbers...hopefully that will change soon. Now is the time to strike, lets make ebay history in Oz....
Re: E-Bay changesA little off topic, but has anyone sold anything internationally?
I have a 200 f2.0 manual lens that I cant come to terms with and am thinking of off loading. I want to put it up in the US as well as OZ but would like to make sure I have the cash before sending. PayPal is an option I guess?? MATT
Re: E-Bay changes
Yes, Paypal is the option, even though once someone insisted to pay me via bank account. I did not think it was possible but he manage to deposit money into my bank account.
Re: E-Bay changes
I sold a lens a while ago, someone in Canada bought it and paid with Paypal. There are a few horror stories floating around about Paypal, but it worked okay for me (based on a sample of one transaction!). Cheers What's another word for "thesaurus"?
Re: E-Bay changesI have sold numerous items internationaly. All payed via paypal. - with the added crunch of extra commissions plus so so exchange rates.
According to Paypal instructons, shipping is supposed to be done with tracking and insurance so this option makes it a little more expensive. If you have "brand" name lens's plenty of international buyers will surf ebay Australia's pages so the chance of the sale is there - especially if the lens is desirable. Off brand lens's require listing in the international site and you take pot luck. You could list this lens in the one of the speciality manual focus forums.
Re: E-Bay changesI was hoping to aviod the whole paypal thing, but it sounds the best bet.
Regards MATT
