Pocket Wizards

Postby chrisk on Tue Jun 03, 2008 6:33 pm

Anyone here use them, (or similar), that can give some advice/ feedback/ experiences/ where to buy ?

how does the PW attach to the SB ? i have seen velcro used to attach them to the SB, is that included in the kit ? is the cable to sync to the SB included in the kit ?

if anyone has a photo of the setup that'd be great. :)

Pocket wizards are the #1 choice in this area.

However (and it depends on your pattern of usage) I found that the Skyport was a cheaper alternative for someone who didn't have to use RF all day every day.

You won't be disappointed if you buy the PWs, but ask yourself if you really need to pay that much.

I just bought a set of 3 and it's divine using them. No more worrying about whether or not it'll trigger. The strobes will pop time after time.

The PW attaches to the SB800 via a pc sync cord. I haven't used the velcro yet as there's not really much room to velcro it to the SB800, so I might look into putting the velcro on the light stand itself. Another option is to use the ball bungee to essentially tie it to the light stand.

piro where did you buy from and is everything you need, (cables), included in the "kit" ?
do they work in TTL ? in manual flash mode can you confirm that the strobe can only be adjusted via the individual PW ?

I bought it thru ebay from urgalaxyau.

You have to control it in manual power through the strobe. It comes with the sync cords and they're pretty cheap anyway.

I bought a couple of these http://flashzebra.com/0070.shtml which give a few options for mounting the PWs on a light stand or on a flashgun.

Also, the manuals http://www.pocketwizard.com/HTML/manuals.asp available on the PW website will explain everything about their operation and features.

Cheers

These are terrific devices - I've got one for each of my PWs. Highly recommended.

Also highly recommended - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Pocket-Wizard-PL ... dZViewItem

That's where I bought mine from. Very good seller. Will send CE ones to Australia, and will combine shipping. (I bought a PW-transmitter Sekonic lightmeter at the same time.)
cheers, juice
