Re: Bad Experience in Africa - Robbed at gunpointWelcome to the forum Peter, I notice you and Arreneli above are both from Germany, just curious how you found our forum? It is quite unusual for us to get two new posters from Germany straight after each other. It sounds like you have had great times in Nambia, maybe you could share a few of your images? It would be a nice contrast to Brett's very unfortunate story.
Could you put a meaningful location in your profile as requested by the large pink box above the reply box when you were posting? While good advice, none of this would have helped the OP in this instance. g.

Re: Bad Experience in Africa - Robbed at gunpointGary,
I came over from Smugmug. This Post was the first one I read and I just felt the urge to reply immediatley - please excuse that I oversaw the fineprint. Actually one advice would have helped in this case: be in a camp before dawn (meaning a closed location and not a circle of tents). One more thing: Namibians (from all ethnicities) usually are very friendly and peaceful but since 2-3 years a lot of criminals from the neighbouring countries (like SA and Zimbabwe) come over the border. The political conditions in those countries are close to civil war (and as beautiful as they are - I would avoid them right now), meaning that they can also disappear without a trace. Namibia is far from these conditions but It's still a good advice to be in a lodge or a farm overnight, if you don't have armed guards with you. And who really wants that... Peter
