Thinking of getting a small DSLR!

Postby aim54x on Wed Jun 18, 2008 1:28 am

I used to own a D40x, and sold it at the beginning of the year, now I am finding that I am carrying my D300 around a lot less than I used to carry the little D40x so am thinking about buying a second small body for this purpose.

BUT - there is always a but!

Can I justify rebuying a D40x or a D60? Should I wait a little to see if D60 prices drop when the 1000D ships? Am I wasting my money that could otherwise be better spent investing into lenses?

Anyone have a Nikon D40/40x/60 that they are interested in selling for cheap?? I would prefer a 18-135mm lens.

What about a Canon G9? 12mp, raw. time lapse, full manual controls, plus it's a Canon... :)

If I was to go down that road I would go the Ricoh GX100!! Feels more SLR with its control set!

I dont like the size/weight/feel of the G9, and its lack of wide angle. If I was to get a G9 then I would get a D40, lol same price for AUST retail!!

That would be an awesome peice of kit, too bad I am a Nikon user and am not crash hot on the idea of building a 2nd system with Olympus. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I am thinking maybe a D60 + 16-85mm VR if I have to buy new. But I really wouldn't mind getting a D40x + 18-135 if anyone wants to part with theirs!!

A couple of days ago dpreview published its review on the E-420 and the pancake lens. The E-420 looks good, however, the pancake lens (25mm f/2.8) does not.
