This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Wow Nigell,
This is brilliantly executed and amazing to look at, and errr..it's two handles and a tap...well done!!!
In a quirky kinda way, when I look at it for long enough, I imagine the two handles as eyes, with the pupils being the C and the absent H, and the mouth/nose as the tap. The texture of the wall in which they are in only add to it.
I really like this...thanks for sharing.

I'm going to be really picky here and say i don't like the shadows under the spout. The shadows under the tap are fine, but not the spout.

Its certainly a challenge (at least for me) to shoot the ordinary in a way which gives it life and a sense other than "ordinary". It didn't start out a project, but the challenge it posed to how I shoot was something I really enjoyed. So a project was born. Thanks for the comments guys.

Nice work!! Great lighting..
Can I ask whether the texture was added later? if not how did you get it to stand out like that.

The texture is real. That's what the taps are attached to. I suspect age allows it to really stand out like it does; so there are a lot of cracks and colour changes in it. I think of it like shooting a portrait of an old person. Not that pretty to look at, but always interesting.

That is really cool. The exposure, lighting, texture and subject is great.
