My Nikon FM2!I know this is not an image shot with my new camera (bought 2nd hand today from the Sydney Camera Markets) but this is an image of my FM2N.
This model has sentimental value to me as I learn't to use SLR with one of these. Cameron

Re: My Nikon FM2!I had one of these, left forgotten in a drawer for years. I tried to sell it but found it's a very sourced after camera. How much did you pay for it? I bought a B&W film last week, had to have 3 go putting it in..having had a shot yet. Battery still works after more than 10 years.

Re: My Nikon FM2!Great camera, great buy. I have mine here collecting little bit of dust, but its a great learner's camera that I've used.
Re: My Nikon FM2!dont know much about the camera. but i love the shot. nice use of the backdrop to create some texture and i like the reflecting light on the black sheet giving off the grey highlights to bring out the colour of the camera. very nicely done.

Re: My Nikon FM2!I picked the camera up for a bargin $225!! The pic hides it well but there is a big scratch on the top near the 'N' otherwise there are a few dings on the bottom and a scratch on the back. I learnt on one of these back in high school, tough little buggers.
As for the shot, I just dropped a black satin sheet that I use as a background and then shot a SB-800 through a semi-transparent reflector (the centre section of a Glanz 5 in 1) and used a SB-600 with a diffuser dome on the left to create some directional light. It worked really well, better than I thought it would, this being the first of three shots that I took. Thanks for the comments guys. Cameron

"The FM2 is also serviceable in a wide variety of temperatures -- ranging from −40°C to +50°C. The Canadian Government continues to use Nikon FM2 cameras in the Arctic because of this."
Re: My Nikon FM2!awesome shot Cameron!
you should so put this on a stock image pool... hehe reading up on the FM2 makes me want to buy one and use it as a paperweight even if it's incapacitated. -j
Re: My Nikon FM2!

Re: My Nikon FM2!
Black was always the more desirable colour for an FM or FE body, because it looked more professional. I think, however, that these days, the silver actually has held up very well, and this looks to be a true classic. IIRC, the selling price for these, when new, was around the $500 - $600 mark for the FM series, and $700-$800 for the FE series, and the prices these are now fetching suggests a very good resale value for those of us who still have one. g.

Re: My Nikon FM2!I must admit I never really took to the FM2. I am strongly left eyed. That meant that the shutter lever, which needs to be pulled out to turn the camera on, always poked in my right eye.
I have one in the back cupboard. I didn't learn on it though. That honour goes to a Pentax SP-F. But then I'm still learning. Slowly. I agree this is a great photo though. Greg

Re: My Nikon FM2!
Makes me think that the $120 or so paid for my all black FE which works well and only needs a bit of a surface clean was a good buy, or the $240 for the F Photomic which is in top nick, was a good buy All I need to do is become more proficient in the Sunny 16 rule and life will be sweet[er]. Re: My Nikon FM2!So I got a steal!!! I always did prefer the two tone FM/FM2 due to the colour of the one I learnt on. But I do agree with the black being the more popular colour due to the pro look of it.
Now time to find that Noct Nikkor 50mm f/1.2!! Cameron

Re: My Nikon FM2!
Although there is a 50/1.2 the Noct is 58 mm.
Re: My Nikon FM2!Whoops my Sony, it is a 58mm f/1.2 that is the Noct Nikkor.
