Snapfish printing, opinions?

Anyone have used snapfish to print normal 4x6" prints? Any thoughts of their quality and service?

Crap Quality (They *decided* to ignore all my colour settings and WB because they thought they knew best. They didn't. I like my night time street photos to be dark. If I'd wanted automatic leveling of colour and contrast I would have done it myself, my way.)
Good service in that they were quick to print and deliver, quick to refund my money.

crap quality. somehow got all the dimensions wrong. even though I have cropped them to 6x4...

Quality of the print was ordinary and the photobook was crap also.

I think for the photographic purists in here the quality is less than satisfactory.

BUT
We had 150 family happy snaps that we wanted to get developed and put in an album. So I tried the Snapfish Album service and to be honest we are very happy with them not so much for the quality but the price/ conveniance.

The album cost us $60 incl delivery for 150 photos. Yes it appears to be Laser printing but the album is great and we are very happy with it, we saved on developing, purchasing an album, time to put the photos in. I have not used them for printing and based on the above comments I will not as I get piss'd when shops play with my levels etc.

I WOULD NOT use them for important photos etc but in this circumstance of happy snaps we are happy. Horses for courses.

I assume you would need this ability to tweak the pictures for printing?

I guess this may all come back to the definition of 'Service' - but this is giving me a headache just thinking about it..... I am sure someone trained / working in this kind of policy/T&C writing would know exactly whats going on.

with that said, I have not, and probably will never use them for printing...but thats just me

If so, why would they bother putting in words like "royalty free" and "perpetual"? Whilst that might be their intent, it is certainly not conveyed with any degree of clarity by their wording.

In fact, quite the reverse seems to be the intent, by the simple use of the words I've highlighted.

To put a couple of other different spins on this ....

Would you be willing to take them on in court should you find that they have used your images in, say, their own promotions of their site, given the wording quoted?

And given that you have agreed to that wording?

Why not call them and ask?

fair point, we have a saying in our industry (engineering) regarding this stuff

"there is a reason why they graduate more lawyers/solicitors then engineers"

not surprising since you need a degree to understand, interpret every T&C, contract, purchase, etc..... I stick with the easy stuff, engineering...

Seems like they're people to avoid if you want acceptable quality prints.

Hi guys,
Firstly i would like to quickly add the fact that until the end of last year i was working with the company that produces the snapfish orders.

I am somewhat disappointed about the comments on here and i will try to go through a few so you can understand the process.
The standard photos are printed on the Frontier 570, the same machine as the majority of photo shops out there. So there should be no issue of quality from the machine end.
Enlargements 11x14 + are printed on the FujiMoto, once again one of the best machines on the market.
The photobooks on the other hand are printed using HP's Indigo printer and then put together by hand.

Any issues with colour/formatting/quality occurs prior to receiving the files and i would assume are issues with snapfish's software.

As far as image rights are concerned i had never seen or heard of any customer image being used by snapfish, with the 10s of thousands they get each day its simply not something i would even be concerned with.

If anyone has any questions i am more then happy to answer them as best as i can.

Ah the joys of being a journalist.

The reason Dad mentioned the T's & C's is because I'm currently writing an article about Snapfish and I've had to quiz some of the people at HP over the meanings of them. According to them, your photos won't be used and it's not their right to do so. I'll have the quotes up in the article later on.

I will be using Snapfish despite what the T&C has in it because I've come to a realisation, but I'll leave that realisation for my article.

Still, I'll be curious to see how Snapfish print since I've been given a voucher to use. I've had a greeting card printed for me and the picture I supplied had colour issues in that the colours were way off. Still, I'll give it a try.

I have used them at least 25 times for Calandars for clients and have never had any complaints regarding colour or quality..
All of my customers have been extremely happy with them too.

Never used them for prints though so i can't comment about that..
