Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

I must say I am rather chuffed with this effort - big swell, tried wading out then clambered up on the rocks near to where the surfers were launching off. Some of these young blokes are incredible as this shot shows.
Taken on manual setting, F6.0 and 1250 shutterspeed I think on a Tamron 300mm lens.

Awesome shot Ozimax!
But is that a crack in your lens?
Oh no, it's not your lens.

Yet again you prove your prowess with surfers - let’s hope that surf photography does not get banned

If they ban surf photography, I'll give the game away, or get very cranky, or both. Maybe a few poignant letters to some local pollies would be in order?

Hey Ozimax,
There lies a fine action photograph. You really do fight hard for your shots! Top stuff- keep it coming but most importantly - keep it dry!
Love your effort!

awesome shot and fantastic timing
Did you show it to the surfer. I bet he was stoked and would pay you a pretty penny to have an A3 framed one on his wall.

As a former keen rifleman, I was taught to wait patiently for the rabbit/fox and then shoot once between the eyes. Like photography (and many pros) you can just keep pressing the shutter, filling the CF card quickly and hope for a good shot or you can wait for the right moment. IMHO photography, like many others things, is all about timing.
Thanks for the comments Matty,
