If the Sydney-siders can have another meetup / dinner and call it Anniversary Weekend, what about us Melbournites?
Short notice, but how about the same weekend Saturday 2nd August? Maybe down Lygon St somewhere? Maybe if it happens, we could organise a cross country telephone call to the Sydney-siders?

We put them right, by tomorrow. All right? Now, Manuel. Go up to the roof. The roof? Manuel [Manuel gets up and leaves the room]: Sí
Basil: In the... [Basil stops him] ...No, no. I haven't told you yet. [Manuel comes back in] Now, go to the water tank.
 Manuel: Water.
Basil: Water tank. Water on roof in tank? Yes?
 Manuel: Sí, sí, sí.
Basil: Two dead pigeons, in tank, take out.
[Manuel gives Basil a puzzled look.]

Basil: This isn't difficult Manuel. This isn't a proposition from Wittgenstein. Listen, two dead pigeons, water tank.
 [Manuel laughs.]

 Basil: What is funny?
Manuel: How they get up there?
Basil: How they...They flew up there.
[Manuel starts laughing again and makes pig noises while flapping his arms.]

Basil: Now stop...Will you just pull yourself...Oh, not pigs, pigeons.
 Manuel: ¿Qué?
Basil: Pigeon, pigeon. [Picks up a dictionary.] Like your English. [Flicks through dictionary to find pigeon.] Piaton, pifle, pig, pigeon. Pigeon
 Manuel: Pig-e-on. Ah.
Basil [Sees Manuel's pet rat]: What is that?
 Manuel: Is my hamster. Pig-e-on.
 Basil: Hamster?
Manuel: Sí, Sí. No, no, no. Pigeon
 Basil: Manuel, it's a rat.
 Manuel: Pigeon.
 Basil: It's a rat.
Manuel: No, no, no, no. Is hamster.
Basil: Well, of course it's a rat! You have rats in Spain, don't you? Or did Franco have them all shot?
 Manuel: Is hamster.
 Basil: It's a rat.
Manuel: No, I think so too.
 Basil: What?
Manuel: I say to man in shop, "Is rat." He say, "No, no, no. Is a special kind of hamster. Is filligree Siberian hamster." Only one in shop, he make special price, only five pound.
Basil: Have you ever heard of the bubonic plague, Manuel? It was very popular here at one time. A lot of pedigree hamsters came over on ships, from Siberia...

Pigeon with ketchup? What a waste of Lygon St cuisine! I'm sure that there's a better choice of sauces in Chinatown. g.Gary Stark

 Pigeon with ketchup?
That's a chicken kebab with barbeque sauce, isn't it? Either way, count me in.

As per the front page at the moment ... August 2 There seems to be a bit of positive interest based on the results of the poll. Anyone have any suggestions for places that deal in pigeon on a stick (with or without ketchup) (or anything else that takes your fancy)?Russell Nikon D700 // 50 1.4 // 70-200 2.8 VRII // 24-120 f4// Tamron 90 // SB-800 // 70-300G I'm on Redbubble too ... http://www.redbubble.com/people/rflower If you can make one of my photos look better and you have the inclination ... please do so.

7/8 participants in the poll thought we should have a Melbourne meet to help celebrate Anniversary Weekend.
How about Saturday 2 August. 7pm start ... venue to be discussed / decided on.
