Re: The GameAn interesting capture. Nice lighting. I feel the image would benefit from a contrast boost. Perhaps an orientation parallel to the board would be best, alternatively you can crop out bottom left.
Cheers Alex
Re: The GameI really like it. Its easy to define the boundary between each of the pieces and good contrast.

Re: The Gamei think it looks great. the lighting of the opaque pieces works very well nd its a great balance you achieved by lighting them just enbuf but not blow anything out. care to share some lighting info ?

Re: The GameI really like this shot but would suggest straightening the shot based on the castle to give a balanced perspective.

Re: The GameThank you for your comments. I will try during the weekend when I will have the time and light to do it, but here is another that I took on Sunday morning also that I intended to use instead. Now if you look close enough you could see me abd the camera reflection.

Re: The GameSorry Rooz. The lighting believe it or not is only direct day light. I placed the chess board on a black carboard 80c from a newsagent and another as blackground and I set the camera on a tripod on the back deck. So the main light source came from the right. Nothing special really.
Re: The GameI actually like the 2nd one better. There is a very nice contrast and the composition is more eye-pleasing.

Re: The GameThank you. That's the one I liked too, but I was outvoted
Re: The Game#1 is still IMO the better shot.
Why? Great perspective, the white on white works brilliantly, colour balance spot on, and considering how the shot was set up and lighting used - exemplary. Second shot is good but the differential in colour across the board does not work for me nor do the reflections. Chris

Re: The GameThank you Chris
Re: The GameChris, as you suggested above..
Re: The GameI'm liking number 1 a lot! The perspective and reflection, really conveys the mood of a quiet before a storm, which is the battle of chess. A great idea!
