Florida here I come!Well, this time tomorrow I shall be on a plane heading away from rainy on England and towards sunny (well, hurricany!) Miami for 12 days on the West Coast. Hoping to visit the Everglades and Key West once all the storms have gone!
Won't be taking my big guns along but hoping I'll be able to cover most situations with the 28-70 and a 70-200 with 2x TC (did some tests, this combo was slightly better optically than the Sigma 400 f5.6 I was going to take). Not really sure what to expect as I've never been there before but hoping to at least come away with some good shots from the week. So, fingers crossed I get 'some' good weather - although getting some good storm pictures would be pretty cool as well!
Re: Florida here I come!Richard,
West coast? Florida is actually on the east coast of the USA, but the western side of Florida is the Gulf (of Mexico) Coast. Key West is great fun. Get down to the southernmost point at sunset. Hemmingway's house is supposed to be good, and there are good cigars to be had down there too. Further north, Miami can be fun, especially as you head into the South Beach region. Lots of Art Deco buildings there, if you're into that. In the central part of the state, Orlando is good only if you have kids. Like Las Vegas, it's a part of the world that the world could largely do without. If you can, get yourself to St Augustine, which is on the Atlantic Coast, and well worth spending a day in. Good food abounds, and it's a very historic city, with the Castillo tops amongst the places to visit. For a complete change of pace, just two hours west of St Augustine you'll find yourself on the Gulf Coast, and in the tiny village of Cedar Keys. Definitely worth a visit, and a walk. The cemetery is great, and the restaurants there, at sunset, brilliant. g.

I have to agree. However a trip to Kennedy Space Centre is well worth it.
