Is it just me?

Postby phillipb on Mon Sep 08, 2008 11:14 am

What's happening to the site? lately it's become so slow to load that not only I make a cup of coffee in the mean time, but it also goes cold by the time it comes up.
Anyone else seeing this?

Who's your ISP?

I'm seeing some elements of general slowness, and sometimes - often but not frequently - here as well. But I believe that the issues I'm seeing are ISP based.

Last night I was barely able to navigate the forums, my browser just sat there waiting most of the time. I'm with Telstra Bigpond Cable.

I'm shaped to 64kb, and it seems to be working fine. (Obviously, I'm not looking at images at the moment :-)

Well I’m glad this has been brought up. Slow is not the word for it - I decided to take a 3 week trip to Bali whilst the site loaded. I have to sign on more often in the past week whereas prior to this I could sign on and be signed on for weeks and weeks (I don’t turn my computer off). Getting more 404 errors too.

Other sites work via the internet, this one works via tin cans and string from Ulan Bator :)

I'm with Optus (cable) I start to worry about it being at my end when I see the problem in various sites but at the moment it's only happening here.

I sometimes think its a time of day thing, but I get consistent lag (let's say) when browsing here, I just get varying degrees of it :D

I'm getting the same problem.

Site is super super slow to load.

I'm with Westnet (satellite BB), and there are no issues with any other site. :?

Slow here to. The rest of the net seems OK.

It just took over a minute to sign in and browsing is slower.

Just jumped on to my server at home from work to do this.

This happens to me both at work and at home (can't tracert from work). Hard to quantify, but this has more of a feel of server speed than network latency.

With Adam in SA

The problem doesn't seem to be network, it's the server I think. It's been slow for a few days now.

Of the sites that I frequent this is the slowest to load, but I never mind waiting  :D

I also hit this.

Last night, it was so slow I was getting error messages - timeouts when trying any of the domain names.

Was a server error message too - not a 404.

This would have been prob. 11pm Sunday night 7/9/08

ISP - Internode in Tassie. Connection otherwise very good (1500/256 ADSL).

Will ping / traceroute tonight.

I just timed how long it takes in Firefox to open a thread in a new window:

In seconds:

20
23
19
25

Each is a different thread from the newposts area. These normally load instantly. (ok, maybe a second or so on a slow day) :)

Our connection is pretty quick. Other forums (phpBB and others) are as quick as they ever are.

Hi Gary - please refer to below message, I received the second to last time I tried to log on.

This time it took somewhere between 5-7 minutes to log on.

FYI - my ISP is Internode using ADSL/2+.

Quote 'Internal Server Error

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@dslrusers.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

I'm getting the same messages as Chris and Foz above and occasionally it works (like right now).

Edit: I managed to post this 7 times because after posting each time I got the internal server error so went back a page and resubmitted. It then took me about another 10 minutes of timeouts etc before I gave up trying to delete them. A royal PITA

Internal server error on DSLRUsers.com - unable to log on on two separate occasions today.

Just managed to log on to DSLRUsers.net, but quite a delay for any page to come up.

DH have confirmed that our server is under heavy load, and will be moving us to a new one sometime in the next 24 hours.

That should be basically transparent to us.

Perhaps I spoke too soon. Posting a reply in Image Reviews and Critiques took forever and I ended up with an Internal Server Error.

Is the site moving to a faster server any year soon?

(In other words, it's still like porridge - although maybe a little bit more watery than before...)

Quite fast for me now. Back to a second or so per page.

Of course it could be faster, but the treacle is gone...

I just came across from Speedtest.net and it took approx 45 seconds to load the dlsrusers site. All other sites I have gone to this morning (and in the past few days) load virtually instantly.

Image

I have no idea why but it only applies to dslrusers.com
