Out of The Darkness....So ive been playing around with shooting cars at night lately, and using undercover carparks with some lighting in them until i get myself a better kit
Shot at F/4.0 and 1/80 using the Canon 18-55 IS on a 400d Canon with a 580 EX II, removed the front plate, after i saved this i noticed how dirty my screen was and touched it up, looks better now, this is still the original so there are still swirl marks etc where the plate should be, removed a bright reflection from the bonnet, other than that and the crop, its as it came from the camera.... I do have a Hi Res Version but i havnt hosted it anywhere yet, if people want it, ill put it up C&C welcome! Life is all about ass, you're either covering it, laughing it off, kicking it, kissing it, busting it, trying to get a piece of it, or behaving like one
Re: Out of The Darkness....Wow this looks really good.. like a promo shot for a movie or something..
The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but it's still on the list...

Re: Out of The Darkness....Not being an expert on vehicle photography, however I reckon a bit of PP on the colour of the headlight light (does that make sense?) to make it more of a halogen (white/blue) colour would make a difference. This would match better with the silvers and greys of the car. The current yellow colour reminds me of my crappy ford lights....
Just a thought tho, feel free to ignore gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Out of The Darkness....Yeah i agree, ill source some better globes and re shoot it at some point, but ill have a play with it and see what i can come up with

Re: Out of The Darkness....
well I wasn't suggesting going to all that trouble but hey.. maybe just change the white balance for those two spot areas....I would be interested in the result! gerry's photography journey

Re: Out of The Darkness....Better globes, better lights, i prefer the good white lights in cars anyway, cant be bothered converting it to the HID Halogen stuff, so just some good globes for now, but i will certainly play with the white balance in those areas, see what i can come up with.....
Another from the session in the meantime, i just have to sort out the short depth of field, and try give it some more on these ones..... Edit: Can anyone tell me the best way to go about changing the white balance, or giving the headlights a more blue/white colour in a .PSD image in CS3, after playing with thiis, i have realised i will need to play with the reflections on the front bar as well to make it look right, any ideas? Re: Out of The Darkness....Quick way is to create a new layer - adjust it and then use a mask to "paint through" the effect you want on to the original..
