Port Broughton (Sa) by night (14-24 testing).Coming home from a sudden weekend work callout to a nameless town 400kms away I decided to stop on a lovely monday night and grab some images of a town I love to visit. Some time exposures with the new bad boy in my Arsenal: Nikon 14-24.
Sadly no D700 on these, as I had to wait a month for it.... So the D300 had to suffice. These have had very minimal PP, criticism welcomed Jetty & Stars: Under the Jetty: Jetty walk: (Yes the horizons suck and I have cleaned them up now, but havent posted to my storage site )... Long Shot: D3 | D700 | D300 x 2 | D200 X 2| D70s| 300 2.8VR| 70-200, 2.8VR| 28-70, 2.8|24-70 2.8 | 14-24 2.8 | 50-500| 50, 1.4| 18-200VR| 10.5 Fishy | Batt Grips| SB800 x2 | SB900 |Pocketwizards | Manfrotto's blah blah.
Re: Port Broughton (Sa) by night (14-24 testing).I just love the 2nd one. I love reflections, and this one is great. Great lighting, Great reflection. The jetty just draws your eye to the end.
Fantastic. Russell

Re: Port Broughton (Sa) by night (14-24 testing).Wow, very nice indeed. Did you paint the first two with a torch- youve nailed the WB if you did. Who needs the D700, the colour and punch and even subtlety of the second is all anyone could ever need.

Re: Port Broughton (Sa) by night (14-24 testing).Wow.. Stands in corner with embarrased face.. I personally Don't think much of my own work (As Adam-e knows!) But thanks for the feedback!
No torch painting whatsoever, 30 sec exposure f 2.8 (And I think I was even slack and on Auto WB..) It had the lights from the street (about 200 foot away) reflecting on it. Re: Port Broughton (Sa) by night (14-24 testing). All great shots, #2 is superb you can see the slight green tinge from the street lights but that is something I like. It is fantastic how the streetlights reflected so far out on the jetty.

Re: Port Broughton (Sa) by night (14-24 testing).Superb photos. I love the colour of the wooden jetty in #2, and the composition of #3. The swirls in the water in #1 are beautiful.
I agree that it would be nice to see more of the closest piers in #2, and I find the bright light on the jetty in #3 a tad distracting. But these are some really nice photos. Latch

Re: Port Broughton (Sa) by night (14-24 testing).Fantastic work TP! You may not have worked hard at getting it, (in your words) auto WB, natural light, minimal PP etc, but I actually like your time exposure work more than a lot of your rally work. I love your series on Adelaide by night as well. I know the Adelaide by night series only reinforces to interstaters that Adelaide is a pretty dead city, the fact that you can take so many views with so little traffic about, but it also showcases the city in a very beautiful way. 2 & 3 above are my favourites. Keep it up!!!
