"Portraits" at FloriadeI went down to Floriade on Sunday morning despite the rain, and took some photos during the few dry periods. For something a little different (for me, anyway) I tried playing with shallow depth of field and taking "portraits" of the flowers with blurred colourful backgrounds. A family of brand-new and very friendly cygnets came by and wanted their portraits taken as well, although they didn't really want to stay still!
My lens only opens up to f3.5, but I've ordered a 50mm f1.4 and was wanting to get a feel for making use of shallow depth of field. When my fast 50 arrives, I'll head back down to Floriade to play with some seriously shallow depth of field. I'm interested in your comments on these photos. Latch
