D70 troubleshooting.hi folks,
was put onto this by some people i know. so for first post i am having some troubles. i was taking some photos of whales, dolphins and all that crap on the weekend on a boat. was shooting in full auto mode. a whale was breaching so i was holding my finger down on the trigger and just getting what i could. all of a sudden the camera stopped taking pictures and the view through the view finder became like looking through some kind of UV filter (that's the only way i can describe it). would no longer take photos in the full / any auto mode. when attempting to take a photo in auto mode the auto focus seemed to be hunting for the right focus and just never got around to taking the photo. manual settings worked fine, as did shutter / aperture priority. here is a list of things i did to try and get it to work. 1. took filter off camera lens - no fix 2. took out card and batteries (in various combinations) - no fix 3. changed lenses - no fix 4. reset to factory settings (using the little button underneath) - no fix 5. looked at it and used swear words - no fix 6. changed the resolution settings - no fix 7. got the shits, put it away and decided i was on a sail boat with Mrs Bigjobs and some nice big fish (mammals) that were playing up so i best go and lie in the sun and have a beer - no fix to camera but fixed my head anyway, still blessed with this little issue. wondering if anyone has any ideas. the memory card is nothing like full. it was empty prior to taking shots and i was only 35-40 shots into the card Camera is a Nikon D70
Re: D70 troubleshooting. Here's a long shot....take the lens off and check the little lever left inside of lens throat. When you fire the camera (Try Manual) the lever should flick up and down. If it does not then there is the problem.

Re: D70 troubleshooting.
Is the battery stuffed perhaps? The viewfinder on the D70 looks dull and misty if it's got no battery power. Cheers What's another word for "thesaurus"?
Re: D70 troubleshooting.thanks, i will fully charge both batteries and see if that fixes the issue. both batteries were probably on about half to one third charge.
