Which pano stitching software

having done a bit of a search here, i find PTgui and panorama factory pop up a lot for auto stitching.
Is one better then another ?
I have tried both, albiet very briefly, and found the PTgui to be faster and it produced a better image.
Are there any other programs out there for panorama's ?

Scott,

I use PTGui on a Mac and find that it is a great program. The latest version also has the ability to do HDR panos, great for when you have some difficult light. PS CS3 also has a pretty good pano stitching facility. That's if you have PS CS3.

been getting good results using PSCS3 stitching 9 to 19 vertical frame panos....... but yet to play with PTGui..... will do so over the next few weeks when I have some time

I was never happy with PTgui so I now use the Hugin open source software. I do swap out Enblend and replace it with Smartblend for even better results.

I've had fun in the past using Autostitch.

It's freeware. You just need to re-download it every six months or so.

+1 for Hugin.

I'll have to find out more about Smartblend - I've been using Enblend and have so far been happy with the results.

If you always shoot on a tripod and don't have any parallax problems then Enblend probably works perfectly. I've just found for imperfect shots (parallax, moving people, surf, etc) Smartblend does wonderful joins. It's algorithm does exactly what I used to do by hand in photoshop.

It's FREE (always a bonus) and outputs to a variety of formats.
