Floriade 2008 Part 2This is the second part of my earlier post. Thoughts on these ones? The first is nearly my favorite shot for a long long time.

Re: Floriade 2008 Part 2man i love all 3, they all are special in there individual way, great shots, thanks for sharing
Re: Floriade 2008 Part 2same as the other threads, any other opinions on these? Looking for some C&C before i put them aside in the "finished" basket. I do like all of these, but i have done much less PP work on this lot, so am curious to see if anyone would do anything different to improve them.
Re: Floriade 2008 Part 2#2 is a great 'smooth' shot, but I didn't realise until I looked closer that there are actually stars in the sky - if you do a little pp work, and up the saturation a tad it actually brings the shot a little more to life, as the colours that are there are all a little muted and are lost in the darkness of the night.
#3 is such a fantastically emotive shot - as far as pp goes, I would prefer the highlights on the jewellery, knife and ring hanging from the bayonets to be brought out - to me personally, this is what is so important in this shot - the things from loved ones that our diggers left in the trenches before they went over, and also the letter pinned to the side of the trench. The rest of the shot can actually be placed more into the background with a little burning ... just my opinion pm sent Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships! -Ansel Adams

Re: Floriade 2008 Part 2
And I can understand why. Good colour saturation, great composition, the slope just adds to what you have captured here. I'm going to swim upstream here wrt the third image. I like it, but I think it might have benefited from greater DoF. g.

Re: Floriade 2008 Part 2
I couldn't agree more with the third shot. I was pushed for time, and i wasn't able to get any closer. I'm a bit bummed i didn't spend more time on that one, because i quite like it, but there's something that doesn't sit quite right for some reason. I'm thinking it is the DOF.
Re: Floriade 2008 Part 2
Thanks for the pm. It's fine by me if you'd like to post them to this thread for other peoples opinions. I think you're right about the 3rd one. Not so sure about the second. I wouldn't mind others opinions on that one in particular. The third one is definitely a bit more moody the way you have it though. Thanks for that!
