My new book released

Postby Finch on Wed Oct 08, 2008 8:44 am

G'day forum members

I'm pleased to announce the release of my latest book "Wildlife of Australia - a nature photographer's journey" on the 1st Oct 2008. It is a 200 page, hard-cover, coffee table book that celebrates the life of Australia's diverse and unique wildlife.

Image

Here's a link to a pdf of some of the pages: http://www.michaelsnedic.com/assets/art ... tralia.pdf (please be aware that the pdf is quite low res and photo quality isn't brilliant)

The book has a recommended price of $39.95 and available in bookshops throughout Australia.

Cheers

Michael

Thanks Gary and Andrew

It would be great to get good sales but the royalties are so low that I certainly aren't going to retire on the proceeds! As you said in a recent post congratulating Dave's ANZANG win, Gary, its not just having the best gear, but "it still needs the operator with the vision and the skill to make the image happen". I couldn't agree more. If you have the passion, drive, patience and vision you will get the photographic rewards, no matter what gear you have.

Cheers

Congratulations and kudos for following your passion and making it happen. Without commitment and dedication projects like this never come to fruition. It must be very rewarding to see the final product and that in itself is enough, if you make some money, that is a nice bonus...

Congratulations on getting it printed and distributed!
There's some very nice stuff in that PDF.

Just out of interest, how much text is there in the book other than the picture captions?

Thanks everyone for your congrats and comments of suport - very much appreciated :D

Here's a reply to a few questions:

Chris - I'd though about self-publishing and it is quite expensive to print and distribute and could be a risk
Big V - Yes, it is rewarding to see the final product on the shelves, as it has taken a n unbelieveable amount of time (LOTS of late nights over months) to get it exactly as I wanted it. Some dollars are icing on the cake.
Starforge - Yes, it will be sold overseas
Dave B - There are only captions, 2 page intro, 2 page foreword and an acknowledgements page. Congrats again on your ANZANG section win, too!

Cheers

G'day guys

Have been getting heaps of people asking me where to buy copies of my new book. Most Dymocks stores around the country have them, Collins books in Victoria, some Angus and Robertson, Mary ryan and QBD in Qld and numerous independent book stores.

Sales are going well, which is a relief!

Cheers
