USYD SURCAS performanceHey all,
These pictures were taken a little while back, when SURCAS asked me take some photos of their performance. I have decided to post them up and let you guys rip at them, it has been something that I have been planning to do for awhile, but have only just gotten around to it. On the night I was using my trusty D300+ AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8 and my (little sister's) S5 Pro + AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8VR (thanks Seeto). All constructive criticisms are welcome. Fuji S5 Pro @ 1600 ISO, f/2.8, 1/60 sec, 155mm (NX2 used to erase hotspot in aqua light - it was a quick fix, I really should redo it and make it look neater!) Fuji S5 Pro @ 1600 ISO, f/2.8, 1/40 sec, 200mm Fuji S5 Pro @ 1600 ISO, f/2.8, 1/60 sec, 125mm Fuji S5 Pro @ 1600 ISO, f/2.8, 1/50 sec, 160mm Cameron

Re: USYD SURCAS performanceI love #1 although he could have been a tad brighter
But it's SO EERIE THAT I LOVE IT
Re: USYD SURCAS performanceCameron, I think the first is tremendous, if it was a perfect world would like the face a fraction more lit but that is not your choice in such a performance. I think the crop is too tight on the hula hoops, maybe because I am an old bloke I would prefer a more traditional look of her staring into negative space rather than away, though again there may be something out of the frame I can't see. 3 doesn't do much for me whilst 4 is a very interesting image with a great atmospheric feel, maybe a tad more space at his back to complement the space above and in front. I would be very happy to have taken those away from a performance

Re: USYD SURCAS performanceThanks Glen, I will have to keep that in mind (note to self - shoot wider and crop in future). I was very happy that these turned out nicely. The S5 did not miss a beat that night, it was a joy to shoot that event and strangely enough I felt very comfortable throughout, save for the short duration of each act.
