2 x SunsetsBoth of these are also from my Greenland kayaking trip. The first one was taken at about 9:30 pm and the 2nd around midnight.
C&C Please Steve

Re: 2 x SunsetsBloody awesome.
The clouds and light quality in #1 are just great. The rocks on the right seem to suffer some light falloff as they further away from us, maybe this could be recovered? The midnight silhouette has a lot of intrigue in it, involving the viewer, especially because of the light and the trio captured, presumably enjoying the even better view from the rise on which they are standing. I want to go there! Michael

my kind of sunset time that first one is awesome! gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: 2 x SunsetsLovely sunset shot Steve,
In the first one, the clouds are really magic. A small nit may be that I find the right just a tad too dark. The second is perfect for me André Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution. Ansel Adams

Re: 2 x SunsetsAmazing, both of them I really really like. Also the odd sunset times make for more interesting viewing I think.
Re: 2 x SunsetsThey are both magnificant.
Is the first one HDR or blended... or a good old graduated filter? The colours are great. Definitely a great canvas print! The second keeps me wanting to see more...... By going there!
Re: 2 x SunsetsWow.. both are stunning! It looks like a amazing place to visit. Do you have more that you could share?
Re: 2 x SunsetsThanks All,
yes it is a stunning part of the world for sure. I would dearly like to go back and see some of the north west which is apparently very flat but with enormous ice, the odd bear and loads of Minke Whales as well. Saving saving saving........ I used a 3 stop ND grad when shooting both images. The first shot has had some levels and curves selectively applied to make it sing. Since getting the feedback about the dark right side I had dodged that out a bit in PS and it definately looks better. The second shot has had almost no PS work other than a quick crop, contrast and saturation boost. Steve

Re: 2 x SunsetsGreat shots Steve. I would try cropping a small amount off the bottom of #1 by taking the rock out of the bottom left corner.
Was there any danger of those ice cubes out there sinking your kayak? Craig

Re: 2 x SunsetsI love both of them, and the shots in the other set. I am completely captivated by those clouds in #1 and #2 just has a very magical feel about it.

I like #2!
Re: 2 x SunsetsSuper stuff Steve. This trip has provided the inspiration for your best work ever. You're really setting the bar high and I'm guessing a lot more awards will be coming your way. Time for a book I think...
