Ok you all must be bored of my pictures of my new toys, but I could not resist taking a few of this new one. Many thanks to Robert for bringing this great little torch to my attention - Deal Extreme despite their reputation for slow delivery managed to get this to me in 10 days.

Once again an off camera SB-800 and an off camera SB-600 provide the light. I have tried another background colour - my bed sheet just happend to be red. Tell me what you think.

The battery that will live in this torch - Sony Cycle Energy Blue LSD (it will be interesting too see how these stack up to the Eneloops but I only have a pair)

In my opinion, I would like to see some hairlight at the back of the torch (opposite side to the main light) to give some more definition and separation. At the moment (looking at number 2), the back end of the torch looks a little flat.
Regards, Patrick

Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935.

Thanks Patrick, I think I'll have to get another flash, but when I do I'll definitely give it a go. For #2/3/4 I have the SB-800 providing the light from the bottom right hand corner and the SB-600 bouncing off the ceiling, both using CLS TTL with dialed down power in separate groups (damn D300 commander mode only copes with 2 groups I wish it could do 3 like the SB-800 can). I really should pay a little more attention to it. Thanks for the suggestion.

For some reason I could not get #4 to be anywhere near as well lit as the others, I think it could possibly be because I had to bring the camera in closer (partially obscuring the flash??)

I promised no more torch pictures, but I think next time I am working with an object i'll try using the M mode in CLS and investigate some more speedlight placings.
