Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Instant comp - images from a hat
As part of yesterday's inaugural 2x2 meet held at Cremorne we held an instant photo competition. This was an idea suggested by Gary our forum admin. Basically a number of pieces of paper each with a simple theme are placed in a hat and each person draws one. They then need to take an image matching the theme during the outing and at the end of the outing they submit an image and the best image taking the theme into account is chosen as the winner. While winning is enough in itself, since this was our first such event a prize of a Wolf Eyes torch valued at $100 was kindly donated by forum member Glen. The winner was Glen, but since he donated the prize it was re-awarded to Mr Darcy by our judge - Philo. The entries are shown below. Each is unprocessed and was imported using Nikon Capture then resized and uploaded to the web using Lightroom so none have had any post processing. Each photo is captioned with the theme and the photographer.

Thank you, Peter, for taking the lead on this, and handling this so well, and thank you Philo for judging the entries.
I am impressed with the images posted, and I congratulate everyone who attended yesterday and accepted this impromptu challenge. Mostly, I hope that the challenge caused everyone to think a little about their image taking, and that y'all had fun in taking the challenge in hand and creating the wonderful images that we see here. g.

What a great selection of images.
Well done to Peter for organising the event and the people that were able to turn up and shoot..good stuff. I think my favourite of these are the first image (Glen's) and the last (nnnnsic). Great stuff guys. Geoff

matt k's leaf is my winner from those, which itself is odd, as usually anything with boats in it is a winner for me !!

Great work all involved, looks like a fun outing.
Glen I'd love to see your image in a panorama style crop, removing the rail at the top and vegetation at the bottom.
