Buying a Camera

Heya all,

Im from Sydney,

im looking at buying a DSLR tomorrow,

im looking at the 450D with tamrom 17-200mm lens what are you thoughts on that?

im still a beginner but would like too learn a lot more,

i will manly be taken photos at car shows, latin dancing shows, and i have about 5-6 21st and 18th too go to in the next month,

Whould that lens doo me or should i be looking at a differant one?

umm around 1500 mark

why i choose that? i heard its a good begginers camera,
lens ive read stuff about them and i called up TEDS in City they said its a good lens for what i will use it with,

and i was thinking of going too city tomorrow,

is that not good?

the 450d is a great little cam. personally, i'd front up for a tiny bit more cash and buy a d90 with the 18-105VR kit. a little less range but a better all round lens, which also has vibration reduction. the d90's a brand spanking new dslr, (with video), and is say a half-step above the 450d. have a feel of em and compare the difference.

if you go to Ted's make sure you tell them that ECS have the d90 kit for $1625.

cant go wrong with either mate. both great cameras. be careful with the lens you choose though. especially the tammie you originally posted cos it doesnt have any image stabilisation. if you go the canon route you may be better springing a bit more and getting a stabilised tamron, a stablised sigma 18-200 i think it is, or the canon 18-200 IS.

I vote Nikon D90

The D90 is the newest kid on the block, but you need to decide what feels best in your hands.

That may be a 450D, a D90, or something else entirely. Regardless of whether you by a Nikon or Canon, 2 things are for sure.

1: Either brand is good, and will help you to produce good shots.

hey all,

yesterday i bought 450D tamron 18-200mm 8gig SDHC card, bag, for 1280 @ teds i spoke too micheal and he did a wonderfull price for me

im very happy with the gear and camera,


but now ive gotta learn how too use it all, i went too palmbeach last night but settings wernt right soo didnt get many good photos, but will take more this weekend:)

Start slowly, and take note of what and how you're shooting. Pay attention to the settings you use on the camera (start in Av mode) and try to avoid using auto wb, as that adds in a whole mess of other variables that are outside of your control.
