Yellow-headed leafhopperMore playing with super macro shots with the D300, PK-13, 60mm f/2.8D, SB-800 and new DIY softbox.
Both taken at ISO 400, 1/250s with the aperture ring on the lens set to f/22. Lens was focused as close as it can go, so when combined with the extension tube, these are larger than 1:1. The first shot is of an adult and it is uncropped with a small amount of post processing. The second shot is a nymph and it slightly cropped (3673x2439 from 4288x2848) as the subject was too low in the frame.
Re: Yellow-headed leafhopperFantastic Shots Andrew,
In the second shot, the right hand side of the head seems to be fading into the leaf. Have you tried bumping up the contrast a bit? 7D, 60D, 70-200mm f/4LIS, 17-50mm f/2.8, 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5, 50mm f/1.4, 100mm f/2.8 Macro, 580EX II
Re: Yellow-headed leafhopperAndrew - fantastic shots as always - the adult shot is superb - wonderful colour, dof and I love it
The nymph shot seems a little flat -but that may be an artifact due to the markings on the leaf Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships! -Ansel Adams
