Some old 50mm shotsThese were taken back when I first got my D300, I had no lenses back then and had merely a 50mm f/1.8 and was shooting in black and white to disguise the ugly grey day.

I love the soul of black and white. Have you printed these shots on Matte paper and placed them into precious frames? Regards
Matt. K
Re: Some old 50mm shotsI have #1 and #3 printed on matte paper and put into albums, but not frames, I currently have no room for frames.
I think they turned out quite nicely for in camera B&W. Got to love the little 50mm f/1.8 though. Cameron

Re: Some old 50mm shotsCameron,
I do like the first and third of these, and they do illustrate only too well the benefit of just sticking the one lens on your body and walkign around and learning how to use it to great advantage. In the third image, I am undecided about the edge of the bridge that is imposing itself over the tr corner here. On the one hand, it needs to be removed: you should probably have walked a few feet closer to the sailboat to remove it from the image. OTOH, it frames this image very nicely, and thus its presence is most welcome. Are you able to coax any detail from this part of the image? I suspect that if we could get some rivets and/or texture in there, that would resolve the conflict that I'm experiencing. g.

Re: Some old 50mm shots
Just fired up CS2 (I never use this anymore) and produced this (wow I learnt something already today - too bad I am not doing an honours in photography): Hope this is somewhat better for you Gary. Cameron

Re: Some old 50mm shotsHi Cameron.
Yes, thank you. Now this both frames and adds an extra point of interest to the image. The real question though is that how do you feel about this change? It's your image, and my opinion is just one of many. g.

Re: Some old 50mm shotsI am very used to the original, but the post processed version is quite nice. I was trying to get the right amount of dodge and this is close, one more click was too much, i'd have preferred maybe half a click difference.
I have to admit that dodging and burning in photoshop beats doing it in a darkroom. Cameron

Re: Some old 50mm shotsi love them all.

Now youre gonna have me tidying up and ( i guess) trying to make the scanner work !!!!
