D2X Reviewhttp://www.naturfotograf.com/index2.html
Bjorn Rorslett's D2X review is up, Birddog is going to be one happy man
Re: D2X Review
Glen, it's truely! I'm a happy camper! and am waiting to hear from supplier: when can they ship one to me? in the meantime: I'll PS the letter of D2x and glue on my existing D2h with the little note attached to it: "Still wet, Please don't touch" Birddog114

Actually, it ain't bad at all!
498000 Yen this morning price from Japan = US$4727.00= AU$6034.00 In comparison with the first D2h released and the D1x was well over AU$10K. Birddog114

That guy is awesome... the way he writes is very good and the review, while glowing, was ballanced. Picking up a few gremlins here and there...
I am pleased to see that even though the pixel size is very small the ISO noise is actually better than the d70 (thanks no doubt to the CMOS) no this cam is going to be a sweet one to have... New page

I am with you MHD, he gives great reviews and actually has more lenses and camera bodies than Birddog! He is my number one site to get honest info about a lens, The lengths he goes to in testing is amazing. I think we all lust a D2X now
I've been lusting for one for ages... then again, I've always wanted a big toy to play with.

Can I send a list of all the "luster" to Onyx today for pre-order? Or giving him a forecast of 200 x D2x, delivered by the end of 2005 Birddog114

No doubt! this D2x from Nikon will have all the new challenges with other side.
$7k Aussie stock are very tempting by all people accross the board! The question is still remained unanswer: when can I have it? Or I'll jump ship to the new "drebel" Birddog114

I think this will make me look carefully at future lens purchases. This is the way of the future and no room for crap.
quote from the review: D2X is also the most unforgiving image recording instrument I've ever used. If there is any optical flaw or aberration of the image projected by your lens, the D2X will show the defect with merciless clarity. Chromatic aberration (CA) will become a catchword of nightmarish importance, if you want to produce poster-sized prints. Lenses you believed were just about perfect will suddenly appear devoid of their former splendour, whilst the real optical gems will take on a magical shine on their own. If you rely on sloppy and haphazard shooting techniques, D2X will teach you a lesson you'll not likely to forget. Put simply, this is a pinnacle in terms of its imaging achievement and not every photographer will be able to scale that obstacle. On the other hand, its innate quality and dynamic range may nevertheless save the day
Good judgment, ditch the "platinum band" and go back to the "Gold band" or on another word: Don't buy COKE, buy PEPSI Birddog114

Onyx, Have you had Yum Cha for breakfast? So what news in HKG today you can give us? the 70-200VR arrived in HKG Supplies store yet? am waiting Birddog114

Did anybody notice this bit???
What's the dynamic range of the new sensor? How much has it been increased over what we're used to? This is very important info ... g.

I just read Bjorn's review. I must say, he's very comprehensive. Nonetheless, I shall spend the morning scouring the net for other reviews.
It shows incredible resolution, the various 400% crop images shown in that review. Birdy - no I haven't had yum cha for breakfast, but for lunch yes (slight diffs to Australian restaurants). What news can I give you? No 70-200 or 80-400. He's had to promise to buy six F6's to secure one 80-400 (long gone), so can't expect any miracles today I'm afraid...
That's bad! I talked to him (Poon) this morning and he mentioned he got the tracking number from FedEX for the 70-200VRs, should arrive today or Monday, B&H has stock but now they're crippled, just talked with my friend in NYC over the phone, they said: B&H's phone is out of action. Birddog114

I received more than 20 emails today since 11:00am now, from regular customers in Govt Dept. sector, people wants know:
- How much is the D2x? - Can they order the D2x now? - When will the D2x can be deliver? - What's the waiting time for the D2x in both Maxwell and Grey stock? - Do I have one in stock as demo & eval unit for try? - Can they visit me and try the D2x? Woohoo! I need one URGENTLY! This review makes people think alot of buyinng this new baby, and I knew 2 customers among them are Canon guys, they want to eval with side by side comparison perhaps I have to stop my intention of jumping ship to the Drebel. Lot of fun today! Friday Birddog114

Goodness, raw files at over 20 mb!!?? I'll need an extra 200 gigs of hard drive space please. Your system will burst at the seams after your first shoot. And all of the extra Flash cards bought will certainly pay off.
This camera looks awesome but I think that you need to have the system to support it (proper lenses and memory etc). Until then I think this thing is way too much camera for the likes of me. Hmmm need to sell some prints, where to find some extra cash?... I might have to start auctioning bodyparts... I think that HSC is going to revolutionize digital photography. Clipping to high speed, low memory, and doubling the length of your lense on the fly? Gurrggle.
is the D2x slicker than James bond in a Tux?greetings there
you must be honoured trying out the sassy D2X what is it's response time when shooting at full resolution TIFF and JPG? how many shots can it take in full res mode TIFF and JPG in continuous shooting Is it weather resistant, e.g Shooting in a winter environment with moisture in the air, snow, blizard etc How resistant is it in a desert environment? is it comparable to the flagship Cannon DSLR? best Wendell
Re: is the D2x slicker than James bond in a Tux?

Perhaps will be soon to me once I got my D2x and rage! Birddog114

No rage will come from here Birdy, just LOTS of envy
Hate mail?! Some people takes things too personally... in the ends, it's just a camera. And one person's perspective on the capabilities of that camera.
I thought the review was refreshing. Comprehensive, but not dry like Phil Askey's reviews tend to be. Although I don't recall whether he tested the multiple exposure capability.
I don't think that this has been posted before, but I might have missed it... Here's another review of the D2X: http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/vi ... id=15&pg=1
Cheers, John
