SookyMy apologies for the common theme running through many of my recent posts...
We were at a friend's daughter's 1st birthday at Fagan Park in Galston on the weekend, and took a bit of time to get some shots of The Child while we were at it. The sky had clouded over, and she was a bit grumpy due to wanting a nap.... this influenced my composition, choice of setting and post prod treatment in these shots. D300, 70-200VR @ f/2.8. SB-800 dialled down -2EV just for catch lights I've already thought up a good caption for the first shot, which will be used on her 1st Birthday party invitations... "You better come to my birthday party..... or else I'm going to get grumpy!" Hallmark, eat your heart out. This looks quite precarious but she is actually a fair distance from the edge of the step as she was on a landing. The compression due to shooting at 200mm helped to disguise that. For this one, I wish I had repositioned her so that I could get one of the bridge posts in line with Phoebe and in sharp focus. Can't fix that in post unfortunately
Re: SookyWhat a cutie! The first shot has a little more impact for me. I'd prefer to see the slightly distracting OOF edge of the step at the very bottom cropped out.

Re: SookyThanks Hangdog. Good point on the step at the bottom of the pic. I might have a go at re-cropping later on.. Though I stuffed up and lost ALL my bibble settings from this entire set of photos so I will have to re-create them all
Re: SookyDes,
I agree about losing that bottom step. That was my first thought, in fact. I'm also toying with the idea of making this a vertical pano: perhaps crop a little from each side, to make the image taller, and/or perhaps photochop it to add more steps at the top and over-emphasise the height of the stairs. Given its intended use, that might add a bit of a fun aspect to it. g.
