D3 raw image problem

Postby Willy wombat on Mon Dec 01, 2008 10:07 am

Hi guys

The other night I was lucky enough to get to have a play around with a D3 on a photo shoot, and I would love to show you all the results.

The problem I have is that I cant open the files using Adobe photoshop CS2. Keeps telling me the files are not recognised, but I can see the thumbnail of the image.

Raw files shot with me D200 work fine.

The other thing that could be a problem here is that I was using a DX lens (17-55 f2.8 ) on the D3 so the camera automatically cropped the images.

Im thinking that maybe because the D3 was made after cs2 was released there is some plug in I might need?

Can anyone please help me trouble shoot this problem.

Thanks
Steve

From what I understand from Adobe's web site you need version 5.2 of their camera raw software (it's a free download) but you need Photoshop version CS4, it wont work on earlier versions. :(

Steve,

Download the Adobe DNG converter and convert the raw files to DNG and then you'll be able to open them with CS2.

Thanks Moggy - I was just checking it out

The Camera Raw 5.2 plug-in is not compatible with versions of Photoshop earlier than Photoshop CS4, versions of Photoshop Elements earlier than Photoshop Elements 6, or versions of Adobe Premiere Elements earlier than 4.0.

Ouch! Stong incentive to encorage people to upgrade the software it would seem :chook:
