Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

some of my picshey im new to dslr's, and i havnt used an slr since school. but i am learning and with free time i have been learning and playing around with the settings on the camera.
mainly my photos are of cars, which is my passion. id love to hear to feedback and some tips to adjust the settings to make my photos look better. i am using a canon 450d majority of shots are with 18-55mm lense. 1) city lights 2) 4L 3) moving shot 4)nighttime bridge 5) 5L&4L http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c94/eb5speed/5l4l.jpg 6) GORGE RD 4L http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c94/e ... ara4l3.jpg 7) 4L (i like this shot, spewing i got the shadow from the tripod/camera in the frame) http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c94/e ... night3.jpg that is about it for now, i want to experiment with my 50mm lense, and my 55mm-200mm zoom lense some more. Edit: gstark. Converted embedded images to links because too many images included in the one post/thread.
Re: some of my picsDon't know much about shooting cars, but not too keen on the tripod shadow in the last. Clone tool time or different lighting technique
Re: some of my picsyeah i agree, i was just using the flood lights that are in the area for my lighting.
the tripod shadow leats the image down alot though
Re: some of my picsphoto 1 2 and 3 are great.
4 i think the purple and blue reflections are a bit to saturated? 5 and 7 Like said the tripod shadow did let it down. i felt really dizzy as soon as i looked at 6? maybe the angle being decreased so the angle is bit less confronting? Just my opinions. 6 really did make me feel dizzy.

Re: some of my picsHow long should I wait, Andrew?
Hi, and welcome. Please heed Andrew's suggestion. I would hate for one of the grumpier of the mods to come along and, say, just change some of your image links to just plain links. Looking at the top of this very page - and reading it - might be somewhat useful. I'll only comment on the first image for now as there seems to be a fault with your camera. How long have you had it? Did you but it new or pre-loved? You may need to return it to the camera store to get the sensor realigned. It seems to be mounted at a very strange angle. g.

Re: some of my picsok sorry bout the rules, i didnt notice till then. from what i have seen on other forums there hasnt been a limit on how many photos you can submit.
also i got the camera new, what makes you say the sensor needs to be re aligned? and what effects does it cause
Re: some of my pics
The limit is imposed to protect any users who may be on slow dial-up connections (and yes, they do still exist) Place tongue firmly in cheek and you will understand GS’s elevated sense of humour. Chris

Re: some of my picsTime to become grumpy, I guess.
And then you choose to totally ignore them, by failing to edit your post, and by failing to edit your profile. Hmmmm .... Two points ...
Ok, three. 1: We are not "other forums". "Other forums" would be "other forums", and they would have different rules. We have ours, and do not, as a general point, permit members to post "look at me" and/or "look at what I've been doing" posts here. 2: We do actively encourage members to post images for genuine critique. We have found that any more than about four images is difficult to seriously critique, and thus we ask that our members impose some self discipline and observe this rule. Any more, and your post, and our attempts to help you, lose value. 3: As also noted in our rules, and on the Portal Page, and in our FAQ, it is a requirement of membership here that you include a meaningful location in your profile. This is required, and it enables us to help you much more than you can imagine. No point in telling you go to Ted's on Pitt St when you might live in Adelaide, is there? And no, putting "Adelaide" in as your location would not be the correct answer. Please read the FAQ
And so now, with you stating very clearly that you have noticed them, perhaps there's a reason that's escaped my notice as to why you have failed to abide by them?
It causes your images to come out crooked. You know, like the totally crooked horizon in the first image you posted in the first image in this thread. Perhaps you might be able to think of another cause for this sort of an outcome? g.

Re: some of my picsi didnt know my profile was a problem, i have edited it to western suburbs, Adelaide.
i might have to read the forum rules and faq's section would hate to upset a mod and you were referring to the image not being straight, ill work on that if i return to the same location
Re: some of my pics
Might ??? Hmmmm ....
So you think it might be an issue with your technique then? Perhaps you're correct. But it seems like such a strange concept ... looking through the viewfinder and composing your shot prior to releasing the shutter. I suppose that you may well be on to something here. g.
