Random 50mm f1.4G shotsthis lens is starting to startle me a little here. the sharpness and contrast at f2 is remarkable. can one become infatuated with a lens ? hmmmm....not so sure this is a healthy relationship. all with sb400.

Re: Random 50mm f1.4G shotsBut it's lobotomised!
But yes, you're seeing in this what I saw the other day when we had a play with one on the D3X. Very bloody nice. g.

Re: Random 50mm f1.4G shotsRooz, you had the 1.4D how much difference is there between the lenses optically have you noticed?
Great results, and I dont think it is an unhealthy relationship between the 50 1.4 and the SB-400 Cameron

Re: Random 50mm f1.4G shotsDelightful images Chris.
Mind me asking if you were shooting with the SB400 then why bump the ISO up so high, with an aperture of 2.8? They are all great, but I think the 2nd image in this series is the standout. I'd like to see just a tad more contrast in the last shot. Show us some more!! Geoff

Re: Random 50mm f1.4G shotsbokeh is quite obviously much better. top right corner of #2 is a perfect example of that. its definately more contrasty, but as i said befre, i think thats a result of the hood more than anything else.
sharpness i thought was close but the more and more i shoot with it the more and more i'm thinking the differences are more significant than what i first thought. at apertures from f2-f4 which is where i shoot this lens it just "seems" noticeabley sharper. but i think that may be my excitement talking. lol one thing is for sure though, its ability to track and nail focus is fantastic. in fact i'm sure thats why i'm getting sharper shots, cos its nailing focus so frequently. buggered if i know mate, i'm just enjoying it ! Re: Random 50mm f1.4G shots
if you're asking is why didnt i shoot it at 1.4, its cos i needed some wiggle room on dof cos he moves so damn fast. if what you;'re asking is why do i have the iso so high given the settings, it;s to balance the light and avoid the "deer in the headlights" flash look. theres prob a fair bit of PP that can be done with these to improve them alot but... a) i'm lazy b) these are SOOC c) refer to (a) lol EM1 l 7.5 l 12-40 l 14 l 17 l 25 l 45 l 60 l 75 l AW1 l V3
Re: Random 50mm f1.4G shotsIf the improvements on the 50 1.4 are this good, imagine how the 85 1.4 AFS will be! It would just be nice if they kept the bloody aperture ring on them.
Great shots, Rooz. Regards, Patrick
