Who owns a webcam?Hi All,
I'm thinking of getting a logitech webcam, think it'd be a bit of fun to chat with some of my friends O/S. Just wondering if any of you had one and if so what brand/model or what you'd recommend. Thanx in advance, Geoff.

I've got a Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro. we bought a quickcam orbit for our friend in the UK. she just had her second child, it was useful for them as they could use the video conference feature in messenger for us and others. we had a 256/64k connection, the frame rate is slow, and it would skip frames and audio. the frame rate would be better if you had a higher upload speed...ie, iinet's 8mbit/1mbit plans. it was worth it to see her new born baby unfortunately her first born, being 2 yrs old now has broken the 'orbit' hope that helps
No webcam Geoff but will be the proud user of a Pace Micro TDC460U on March the 9th.
It’s the latest Foxtel Digital PVR twin tuner job with 160Gb hard disk Chris

When people ask what equipment I use - I tell them my eyes.
Boring and wasting money with webcam!
The internet connection doesn't give you any good frame rate and it sucks!!!! Birddog114

Geoff PVR = Personal Video Recorder. Like a video cassette recorder, but uses a hard disk and is heaps more flexible (eg you can pause & resume live TV while viewing and restart where you paused). I have a Topfield TF5000 PVR for FTA (that's Free To Air ) And I'm with birddog - webcams are a non event. Peter

I've had a webcam for years and use it regularly... I would agree with the others on the quality & frame rate (even with broad-band), but it's better than nothing...
It allows my daughter to see and interract with her grandparents and cousins on the other side of the world and she & they love it... I just use MSN Messenger for my video / audio connection... I can't remember the last time that I telephoned my parents... They've finally learnt that if they want to talk to me, they have to logon to MSN at a sensible time... Cheers, John

The few times I use my webcam are when I'm talking to friends and I want them to see my crazy actions and reactions to things... or if I want to show them how messy my room is.
Honestly, my phone camera gets a better frame rate. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au
