Re: recommended trader for Pelican cases? You could try some electrical wholesalers, like TLE and Rexel. I got my 1600 at a very good price from TLE when a friend worked there.

Re: recommended trader for Pelican cases?Yeah, 1510 is the base model (the box essentially) with no foam/inserts.. and when it has inserts in it, it becomes 1514.
Re: recommended trader for Pelican cases?
Both Dom & International? It looks quite large for Domestic. How about what you can fit in it? That is always an interesting one? Any pointers or pics of it loaded up? I too really need to buy 1 or 2 Pelicans for my travels. D3 | D700 | D300 x 2 | D200 X 2| D70s| 300 2.8VR| 70-200, 2.8VR| 28-70, 2.8|24-70 2.8 | 14-24 2.8 | 50-500| 50, 1.4| 18-200VR| 10.5 Fishy | Batt Grips| SB800 x2 | SB900 |Pocketwizards | Manfrotto's blah blah.
Re: recommended trader for Pelican cases? In mine I carry the following
D3 D300 300mm F/2.8 70-200 F/2.8 24-70 F/2.8 SB-800 20mm (tucked under 300mm) 1.4TC (tucked under SB800) Without the 300 I can fit in another three or four lenses easy And in the lid orgniser lots of bits & pieces I recommend the dividders rather than the pick'n'pluck, you can fit a lot more in and its much less hassle. And its OK for domestic size wise, you just got to hope they don't weigh it, lol Darren

Re: recommended trader for Pelican cases?I've carried it on Asia/Thai/Malaysian Airlines with no problems...
check out the compatibility here > http://www.pelican.com/airline_allowance_medium.php Mine carries; 1dmkIII with 2470 attached 40d (body only, could configure it with lens too) 70-200mm 16-35mm 50mm 580ex memory card holder cleaning gear chargers spare batteries waterproof camera cover silica gel pack wireless trigger/flash notebooks/pens also, the lid organiser doesn't come with it, its another $20 or so extra The inserts are just like your camera bags, all velcro so you can mod it however you like it. and you can lift it all out if you wanted to

Re: recommended trader for Pelican cases?THANKS kIWI,

Re: recommended trader for Pelican cases?I have the 1514 as well. Not sure how feasible it is as carry-on luggage because the unloaded case is already 7kg.
I store both camera bodies with lenses attached so I can quickly grab it out and use. You'll be able to fit more gear in with lenses and bodies separated. Ben D3 | D300

Re: recommended trader for Pelican cases?i also got my 1514 from sea optics in adelaide and the service was great.. i ordered an organiser with it but they didnt have it in stock and they delivered it personally a week later because they came down to whyalla to film the cuttlefish, i must admit it's a big bastard and i would recommend getting something a bit smaller, i can squeeze everything into mine but i bet i wouldnt get it on a plane without paying extra weight
D2x D70 D200 85- 1.4 70-200vr 28-70 50-1.4 10.5 fisheye 200-400 vr sb800 sb600 extra batteries for all cameras couple of filters battery chargers and believe me you need muscles in your shit to lift it ! so dont go for the biggest, its tough as nails so no gripes about quality !! cheers rob
Re: recommended trader for Pelican cases?geez, love to see that a pic of that one packed. !!
They are heavy loaded up, mine must be 20k or so, but, I bought one because my back was killing me using a backpack and this has a handle and wheels for zooming about on the way in and out of sports stadiums and the like. Dead useless for offroad though Darren

Re: recommended trader for Pelican cases?
i did have a pic of it ( taken with sony 717 ) but i bought a new hard drive and "moved" about 230 gig of photo's onto it and the next day when i tried to explore the hard drive i got a message saying something like .. this hard drive needs to be formatted !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if i had "copied" the photo's i would be ok but like a dh i moved them and lost them, i contacted a data recovery company and they said .. it would cost $80 for a quote and between $240 and $2,000 to recover the data ... so now i have 2x230 gig,1x320gig,1x500gig and a 1terybite and i back-up and back-up and back-up .... sorry for dribbling on cheers rob
Re: recommended trader for Pelican cases?Over the past 5 years, I've only had my carry-on weighed once, and that was at the check in counters and it was my big lowepro commputrekker bag, which was a few kilos over as it was loaded with all my gear.. but the guy let me keep it still...
Re: recommended trader for Pelican cases?Buying a Pelican case was a piece of cake...but catching that damn pelican was a real pain in the arse!...OK....What do I do now?
Regards
Matt. K
