May I make a suggestion Patrick (if you have not considered this already) but it would make sense to accommodate state by state rather than in order of acceptance distribution. This may speed up the process

And people in proximity. Neutral Bay and the northern beaches seem to be quite popular. :P

If it comes to Melbourne you can count me in - I will go after Oz Beachside (Bruce) as we live in reasonable proximity and I owe him a beer.

I had thought of that but, given we are relying on Australia Post, a package from Sydney to Brisvegas can get there just as quickly as a packaged from Crows Nest to Neutral Bay.

Ok, I am going to kick this off in the next few days. There are 20 people on the list, so I will roll up about 24 exposures (in case the last few don't work). If I have your name on the list in error, can you please let me know?

When I am set, I will PM the first person on the list (Cameron?) for their address and get the ball rolling.

The instructions for the FE, and therefore how to operate the metering (and film advance mechanism for the non-film users amongst us) is here.

I think that is it.

Oh, if you are on the list but plan to be away for a few days in the next couple of weeks, let me know so I can rearrange the order (but don't make me think too much. :D )

Folks, something has come up and I have to be out of town for a few days. I will kick start this off upon my return, but expect week commencing the 5th. Colin, I appreciate this may mean I have to move you around in the order.

Merry Christmas.

Good idea.

Interestingly, I went to roll up the film and load it last night, only to find the shutter wouldn't fire. Quick investigation saw that the batteries were dead. Easy, I thought, given the camera has a mechanical shutter option at 1/125th, or so I thought. But to no avail. Then I saw the shutter speed dial and saw "M90". It clicked (after two glasses of plonk). The red 125th is the sync speed and M90 is the mechanical shutter speed.

I will get two new batteries today, take my shot and post to Cameron.

Just a reminder, when you receive the camera, please post on here and when you send it off, please add this to your post with the shot number as it appears on the camera. Also, please don't deviate from the order above (unless you PM me first) as I will use this order to label the photos when I post on Smugmug.

Cheers

Ok, the camera has been sent to Cameron with 1 shot on the clock.

Now, the film advance lever also acts as the mechanism to turn on the meter. If the lever is pushed in as far as it will go, the meter is off. If it is pulled out a little, the meter is turned on. When not in use, keep the lever pushed flat against the body. This should be obvious (as I am sure my explanation wasn't) when you see the camera. The ISO is set for 400 - please don't change this.

Being black and white film, it is more tolerant of overexposure than your fancy digital sensor. Be more careful about underexposure as it is harder to pull out the shadows than overexposed highlights.

Any naked self-portraits will be posted on this site! :D

Finally, remember, 1 shot and then mail off as quickly as possible, posting confirmation of receipt and sending on here.

Cheers

Ok, for the sake of parochialism of our northern and southern members, I have grouped the Brisvegans together and Melbournians together (it is for the common good that this is done, anyway) in a revised list. It is in the edited post above, but for ease, it is here:

1. Reschsmooth
2. aim54x
3. Pa
4. Firsty
5. Mr Darcy?
6. colin_12
7. ATJ
8. radar
9. Ant (member for 3 years)
10. PiroStitch?
11. Antsl
12. Oz_Beachside?
13. rflower
14. Critter (member for 2 years)
15. CraigVTR
16. Oneputt
17. foonji
18. Paul
19. Geoff
20. dviv
21. Wendell
22. Yi-p

If people are able to hand the camera over personally, this will save on the need for the chaps at Aust Post to apply their normally dainty approach to package delivery and save you on postage.

I told you not to shoot a still life; they move way too quickly. :)

i put the camera on a tripod focused on a mare and foal pressed the shutter button, it must have been on delayed shutter release for it took about 5 to ten seconds to respond by then the horses moved towards me and out of focus.

it was good fun and now am keen to try again.

If the photos turn out well (as in interesting, ecclectic, etc) I can have the photos printed and we can 'exhibit' them at the AW dinner perhaps. We can assess closer to that time.

because the site was down this morning I rang Pa to see if it was his tripod shoe on the bottom of the camera (it was :) ) and after talking to him about the camera I think his problem was he set the "self timer" when he was trying to turn the camera on (white lever on the front of the camera is the self timer)... I only found out after reading this really good information on the FE it helped me learn how to cancel the self timer I had set while I was playing around with it too

Hi guys

I will be heading off the the Superbikes at Phillip Island over the weekend and will not be back until around the 6/7 March. So, I will most likely be away when the camera finds its way to sunny/flooded Queensland and will have to miss out. However, if is still in QLD when I get back I want my shot. :)
