Fiddling with leftovers

Here are some shots from a trip to Barrington Tops late last year. I've experimented a little with the processing on these and would appreciate your feedback. Be brutal (I am and can take it )










This last shot is probably the most "normal" of these but is still an experiment

Firstly,
Good on you Peter for going back to images you weren't sure about and 'playing/tweaking'!
The first image I think is my favourite...why? It has a beautiful mystical almost eery feeling about it. I'm not used to 'soft' images from you...and this one is just that..SOFT but I think it suits for this image.

2nd image - I like this...and more I look at it, I like it more. It creates a query..where does the path lead? Is it dangerous through there? What's going on? Mystical as well. Mind sharing your technique and what you've done to these to to get to this stage?

3rd image - Hmm...nice use of reflection but it leaves me thinking 'so what'?

4th image - Doesn't float my boat one little bit...sorry!

1 and 2 are the strongest for me. I really like the way the misty softness slides across the first image.

for #2 I feel like my eyes are getting a bit lost in the detail. I'm not exactly sure how to fix this. Perhaps a selective darkening of the (formerly) green hues might make the leaves in the foreground stand out a bit more? Just some thoughts.

They have a different quality about them, almost fantasy-like esp #2

The first two are great and I would have chosen number two as my favourite but the gate takes something away from it IMHO but I really do like the range of tonality in it, would like to see the water one done as a monochrome as well

Thanks for your great feedback people. The black and whites are done in Lightroom 2 using a preset I've created for such conversions. A few more from this experiment can be found HERE.

Below is the second shot immediately before the preset was applied. Very little additional PP was done after the preset was used (I cloned the water puddle out):



And the image below is the water image with the preset applied (I prefer the colour).
