PotW Feb 10, 2009

Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. PotW Feb 10, 2009

Postby gstark on Tue Feb 10, 2009 9:14 am

This week's PotW is a guest selection, made by Big V.

Here's what Tony had to say ...

Big V wrote:Well what a week I have had viewing all of the posts very carefully to select the picture of the week and after much internal debate I have decided that this is it

Image

To me it just screams Antartica and sums up why you would want to go. All of the images from this set have been wonderful but the subtle colours and sense of wonder make this one work for me. I just want to get in a Kayak and go explore around the base of this. Well done Dave

I can only agree: the images that Dave has shown us thus far have been exceptional. My thoughts on the selection process were not so much which photo it might have been, but which photo of Dave's it was to be.

Here is the original thread.

And thank you Dave, for sharing these beautiful images with us. I certainly feel very privileged to be able to view them.

Great choice. Just about any of Dave's Antarctic photos could have been chosen.

I agree. As could the Easter Island set. Keep 'em coming Dave PS BBCode seems to be switched off for me for replying to this thread. Any reason?

Reason: unchecked the bbcode checkbox. :)

Thank you all!

I've now added links to each of my Antarctic posts so you can traverse across them if you haven't seen them before.
I think if I keep posting these for long enough people will get sick of them... ;)

Hmm... why IS BBCode off? Is this a default for the PotW forum?

No, it's not off .. at least not for me. And no, it shouldn't be the default for this forum either.

Yes, I'll check.

Couldn't find anything untoward ... I suspect that one person has it turned off in their settings, and once they make a post, that setting sticks for the thread unless/until someone else changes it.

Congratulations Dave. How Gary chose a single image for this is beyond me since there are so many cracker shots.
