Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

In case you haven't been watching the news, the Ocean Nova ran aground in Antarctica. This is the same ship I was on in January (although it's a different captain: some of the crew switched over after the latest cruise).

Here you can see the Ocean Nova in the background. This photo was taken less than 10km from where the ship has run aground!

Another shot from the same morning as the Arc de Triomphe image. Here's a snapshot as we got closer:

Lemaire Channel, Antarctica

This line of ice was probably pushed into a line right across the channel just by the winds. This was taken from the side of the ship as we sailed through it.
The colour of the ice is very different from the shots above, but it's not a mistake!

This photo was taken at 12:30 in the morning. To help you understand the light levels: the exposure was 1/200s, f/6.3 @ ISO 400.

Latest update: the ship got off at the next high tide. Inspection by diver indicates no apparent damage, but this will be confirmed by inspection back at port. In the meantime the passengers have been transferred to another ship from the same company to continue their voyage.

Dave

I thought of your trip when I first read the news reports. These images are of the same high standard as you previous 10 sets. I'd like to single out the second and fourth images espeically. #2 because it's strkingly different to the other shots I've seen and #4 for it's great leading lines.

Keep them coming I'm not vaguely bored yet
