Lote gives my daughter something to boast about...

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

With an image such as this, the technical quality is not a major issue.

But this is a vitally important photograph, and it brings us back to our photography roots: why is it that we do this ? I think that, especially today, with mobile phone/cameras and every man and his dog having a camera of some sort, it is essential that we not only make this image, but print it out too. That way Sioned will always have access to the image, and to the memories that it will bring to her, and in the future, her family.

I like it ,
it captures the moment and the excitement in her face - totally agree, print it, frame it and hang it in her room ...would also suggest you frame the T Shirt -you never know what autographs may be worh in the future and once washed they are gone forever.
If you want to PS would only suggest you blur the background slightly and burn the white shirt & hat to make them less obvious

Great photo!

A couple of years ago I was waiting for a flight in Wellington airport with a friend of mine and his handicapped son, who is a huge rugby fan. All Black captain Tana Umaga was walking by; I stopped him and asked if he would mind being photographed with the boy. I took the photo, got an enlargement and posted it back to NZ. It now proudly sits on the fridge door!

These moments are treasured, and you've done well. Now, if only it had been a Rabbitoh player... :D

The Philistine in me wonders "What's a Lote? Is that a term for having your T-shirt grafittied?"
I presume it's a rugby thing...

It's not a _bad_ photo. Maybe it could have been improved with a bit more illumination in the middle (in the shadow of the giant) and those bright white background elements (shirt & hat) do distract a bit (give Deb's advice a go). But it's presumably significant more for content than technique!

Dave,

That is the artiste in you, actually. It's the Philistines who would know the answer, but they then have trouble counting beyond 15.

Jocks, Philistines, God forbid even Female AFL commentators.....whatever......those of us tied up in sport do tend to mix our metaphors, misinterpretate stuff and speak good English sum of the time so my guess is

..... Lote = Languages Other Than English :P

Yeegods... Just in case you people are really being serious... Lote = Lote Tuqiri (rugby player extraordinaire)...
Lote plays (understatement) for the Waratahs & the Wallabies...

Now if anyone has to ask who the Waratahs or Wallabies are, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to shoot you...
