Da PuppyHere's another member of my personal zoo. A dirty faced, poodle-terrier-chow mix named "Flower" by the little girl whose family we got her from.
This is a severe crop taken with my new 85mm f1.8 and available room light. Handheld, f2.8 at 1/30.
Awwww....

Well done. Only thing that could have made it better is if she deigned to look in your direction while taking the shot. The shot shows the lens off nicely and, as Onyx has said, you got great DOF in this one.

i'm not sure ... i think the dog peering into the distance is nice for the story part of the shot.... what is the dog looking at? is the dog about to attack? is the dog about to run away? etc etc

Xerebus, maybe it's the cat owner in me, but I didn't think any of what you say. I thought the dog was just hanging and it CERTAINLY doesn't look like it's about to attack anything except maybe a bowl of food. Shows how we all bring baggage to a photo doesn't it. Peter

Thanks all.
We live, we learn. We stop, we're dead. I'm adjusting to the DOF. on this baby. I was at about 7 feet, so I figure DOF was about 3-4 inches (8-10cm). She's looking over the top of the sofa at my wife who was standing just to my left. She's a little drowsy from a medication to keep her from scratching herself, too. (The dog, not the wife.)
Mark,
ROTFLMAO! She looks like she'll lick you to death! Sick'em, Rex! Great shot, Steve, of a beautiful animal. g.

Those are some great ears. Great looking pooch. Great lens too, if you can crop on that lens and still have it coming out looking this great then, well, I need one of those lenses now too! BTW, if you got the shot with the dog looking at you it would have been nice as well, just different. I don't think that there's a better or worse shot.
