Avalon Airshow 2009

Postby biggerry on Wed Mar 04, 2009 10:12 pm

Anyone attending this year? I was there many moons ago for work, however this time, again for work but am going to take the opportunity to belt out some pictures  . Anyone care to share airshow photography experience? Anyone going to be down there?

Sounds basic but flying planes photos look better with some movement -
I was very proud of my first vintage airshow photos ,clear, crisp, well framed, exposed well, ...it wasn't til I got home I realised that they all looked like models hanging on a nylon thread - there was no prop movement I had frozen them in time.. not the best look !
Have fun

I would love to go, but my current cash flow situation (all outwards, none inwards) precludes
such things.

Looking forward to seeing some shots.

Yep - making my way down from Adelaide.

Don't suppose anyone's got a spare 200-400VR hanging around?
Unfortunately my current rate of saving means it'll be a while until one of these is in my bag. From what I hear, it's ideal for these events.

Last time they handed me media accreditation, this time not so lucky.
I've taken a few days off work so I can go Saturday.

And being that a branch of my work is handling all their vehicles I still haven't been able to score free tix.
Really not liking the idea of $50 for me and $50 for the Mrs too :x oh and don't forget $10 parking!
might go without food for the week.....

Ok time to go :)
If anyone sees me cruising round I'm with my GF and possibly a mate.
I have a tamrac bag with enough stuff strapped to it to sink a battleship.
Main ID features are
A. I'll probably be the only 'Goth' there.
B. I have 3 fold-out chairs, one green camo, one urban camo.....and one PINK for the Mrs lol :)

come say hi :)

lol, yeah, I was there on thursday and it sucked.....probably for different reasons tho!

It rained and was cloudy...i had to spend 90% of the time doing work stuff so i only got to take a few pictures. Missed taking pictures of the air display 'cause I had to have lunch with some bloody company....

The air display is pretty crap during the trade days..same old stuff year in year out. I had a much better time in 2001. I guess I am over seeing the hornets, F111 and caribou do the same thing.

If they had a Sukhoi or something I would hanging out there to see that!

Also whats the point in having the B1 even there when all you can do is look at it from 200metres...what a waste of money..at least with the galaxy(?) you could walk into and and get tours into the cockpit...

On a side note, where was everyone at this airshow? it was dead compared to the last time I went in 2001.

Well i got a wet ass!! Today anyhow with the shower we had myself and the D2X had a good shower, but i guess you get that and well i have just gone through some of my pics and well they are ok but shooting on the dark side of the planes is a bugger and i guess conditions played a big part.
Anyhow been a big couple of days so bed time as 1.14am, oh and it poured down most of the way home on out 4 odd hor drive home.
