The Hoodoos, DrumhellerWell, my family and I are looking around in Canada on the weekends and I am finding that I am wanting to take lots of panoramas of the amazing scenery. I have never really taken any before and am definitely a beginner. This was taken at the Hoodoos, near Drumheller in Alberta. There are some really cool rock formations there. There is also an excellent dinosaur museum. The small white thing in the left corner is a person - I am finding it really hard to get a sense of the scale in my pictures too.
Any advice and critique would be greatly appreciated. (I have tinkered with the link and it seems to work now - Greg B) Nikon D7000

When people ask what equipment I use - I tell them my eyes.
Re: The Hoodoos, DrumhellerI couldn't see it either, but going direct to your full image seemed to work. Have you got external links turned off?
It's a great shot. Daniel Nikon D4, D2Xs, D70, Nikkors and Sigmas lenses from 10 to 400mm

Re: The Hoodoos, DrumhellerLee,
you have an extra .jpg on the link, that is not needed for smugmug. I assume you mean this one: http://petelee.smugmug.com/photos/493742951_WAqfQ-M Going to your smugmug site, I found the bigger version, which gives a better look. The Hoodoos certainly are an amazing place. You did very well with the stitching but for me, I find it a bit unbalanced. I would like to see more of what is on the left or the right. A place also very much worth re-visiting in summer if you get a chance. BTW, for a really good Canadian photographer, look up Darwin Wiggett. He currently has an exhibition in the Cochrane library, that's not very far west of Calgary on the Trans Canada. His web site is at: http://www.darwinwiggett.com/ A bit colder in that part of the world Hope you and your family are enjoying the place. cheers, André Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution. Re: The Hoodoos, DrumhellerThanks guys, I was a bit tired last night, not sure what I was doing!
Thanks for the critique Andre. I was also wishing that I had taken just one or two more shots either side. I didn't really plan, I just snapped without thinking - I must get my head into composition instead of happy snapping! I will check out the exhibition in Cochrane. We are loving it here, the mountains are beautiful, the snow is gorgeous and Calgary is so sunny most of the time. Good shops too! We have spring break next week so will head up into the mountains again. Plus I am finding myself saying to people "it's going to be warm tomorrow - 5 degrees", which are words that have never, ever crossed my lips before!!! Nikon D7000
