POTW 24/3/09

Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

POTW 24/3/09

Postby sirhc55 on Tue Mar 24, 2009 12:30 am

This weeks choice was very hard considering the quality of pics posted. I would like to mention, before declaring the POTW, the excellent pics of Flatpick’s Gunnadah shots, Phillipb’s book entry and that master of nature Rel’s Blue Spotted Hawker.

The photo I have chosen was one of a set that I kept going back to look at and could not leave any critique because I justed wanted to keep looking at them. This photo appears to be a reiteration of Sheepie’s choice last week in that the photo has a timeless appeal, subdued colours (which suits the subject admirably), very Australian and the reply made by the poster to critique left by Gary. I felt that the explanation to the critique showed a depth to the photographer that enhanced the photos even more.

This weeks POTW goes to a new member of the forum Gray_T with this shot:

Congrat's Gray. The photo invokes some thought about a past era, when rail and river were the nation's transport options (and horse I suppose). Subdued colours indeed Chris and well selected too.
